Hutamno: Amber Heard Gets Called Out by Makeup Company for Court Claim

Makeup brand Milani Cosmetics wants to set the record straight. This week, the defamation trial involving Amber Heard and Johnny Depp continued. Depp is suing Heard for allegedly defaming him by describing herself as a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 op-ed written for The Washington Post. The actor is seeking $50 million in damages, claiming he was the one abused and that the allegations had cost him lucrative movie roles. Heard has countersued for $100 million, arguing that Depp saying she fabricated the story has in fact defamed her.

During opening statements in the trial this week, Heard's lawyer showed Milani's All In One Correcting Kit. Rottenborn said Heard would always carry the product with her to help conceal bruises on her face allegedly left by Depp.

"This was what she used," her attorney said, suggesting Heard herself would address it herself later in the trial. "She became very adept at it. You’re going to hear the testimony from Amber about how she had to mix the different colors for the different days of the bruises as they developed in the different coloring and how she would use to touch those up to be able to cover those."

Milani has thrown in a flag. Taking to the social media platform TikTok, the makeup brand posted a video suggesting that this claim is impossible. The video, which quickly went viral, shows notes how the alleged abuse occurred from 2014 to 2016 with Depp and Heard getting divorced in 2016. The problem is that the All In One Correcting Kit wasn't released until December 2017.

"You asked us… let the record show that our Correcting Kit launched in 2017," Milani wrote in the caption, adding that they "are here to provide the facts of the case" in the comments section.

Amber Heard Will Take the Stand

Johnny Depp had taken the stand this week to present his version of what happened during his relationship with Amber Heard. The former Pirates of the Caribbean star says he's never been violent with Heard or any woman, arguing that Heard was verbally and physically abusive to him. He described an incident where Heard allegedly threw a vodka bottle at him which smashed against his hand and severed his fingertip; Heard says Depp inflicted the injury upon himself by smashing a phone. Another shocking moment to come from the trial was Depp alleging that Heard or someone she knows had left human feces in his bed.

Heard will get her chance to tell her side of the story and address Depp's allegations, as she is expected to take the stand later in the trial. With Depp on the stand, Heard's lawyers honed in heavily on his struggles with drugs and alcohol. They had also read private text messages Depp had sent to actor Paul Bettany in which he said to "burn Amber," among other negative comments about Heard. The defense also showed a video clip Heard had recorded of Depp angrily slamming cabinet doors before pouring himself a large glass of wine; Depp said that it only showed that he "assaulted a couple of cabinets but did not touch Miss Heard."
