Robert Irwin pays tribute to Betty White on what would have been her 100th birthday - Daily Mail

Robert Irwin pays tribute to late Golden Girls star Betty White on what would have been her 100th birthday

Betty White would have turned 100 years old on Monday and Robert Irwin has shared a tribute to honour the comedy legend.

White passed away on December 31 from a cerebrovascular accident, which is defined as, 'loss of blood flow to part of the brain, resulting in brain tissue damage,' which also came just six days after she suffered a stroke.

Robert, 17, reposted an online movement spearheaded by fans calling on people to donate money to animal shelters and other animal charities in honour of the actress.

'I love the idea of the #BettyWhitechallenge, helping to support animal charities and to celebrate the life of someone who spread so much positivity,' he wrote.

'Betty's support for conservation through zoological facilities as well as her love for the fellow living beings we share the world with continues to inspire. She is greatly missed!'

Betty - who never had biological children - was actively involved with the LA Zoo, Tree People, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Wildlife Learning Center, Actors and Animals for Others, The Aquarium of the Pacific, and Guide Dogs For the Blind.

White - last publicly seen January 16, 2020 - often joked she started out in 'silent television' having made her first appearance on the small screen in 1939.
