Trent Reznor has spoke out against former collaborator and friend Marilyn Manson following allegations leveled at Manson by his former fiancé Evan Rachel Wood.
Reznor, who has previously rebuked the goth rocker, again vehemently denied a claim in Manson’s 1998 autobiography, “The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,” that Manson and Reznor allegedly physically and sexually assaulted an inebriated woman in the 1990s.
“I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication,” Reznor, 55, said in a statement to Pitchfork. “I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.”
In 2009, the Nine Inch Nails frontman also described Manson as a “dopey clown” in an interview with Mojo.
“He is a malicious guy and will step on anybody’s face to succeed and cross any line of decency,” Reznor said of his former protégé. “Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he’s become a dopey clown.”
Following abuse allegations from Wood and other women this week, Manson’s record label dropped him.
The “Sweet Dreams” musician, 52, denied the women’s claims on Instagram, writing, “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”
Meanwhile, cops swarmed Manson’s LA home late Wednesday after they received a call requesting a welfare check on him. A rep later assured officers that Manson — whose real name is Brian Warner — was fine and merely did not want to come out of the house because of media presence.
