Kim Kardashian kisses Pete Davidson in PDA-packed videos on Instagram - Page Six

Kravis 2.0?

Kim Kardashian gave PDA-loving couple Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker a run for their money Sunday night by posting a series of intimate videos of her kissing her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, on her Instagram Stories.

In the first video, the “Kardashians” star, 41, and “Saturday Night Live” alum, 28, appeared using a devil horns filter and were seen playfully sticking out their tongues to the camera.

Davidson then leaned in for a seductive smooch, causing Kardashian to giggle.

In a separate video, also posted to the Skims founder’s Stories, the happy couple could be seen laughing as the comedian goes in for a hug.

Davidson debuted his new platinum hair in the clips, which matches his girlfriend’s locks.

The reality star recently went blonde to channel Marilyn Monroe at the 2022 Met Gala, which she and the “King of Staten Island” star attended together.

Over the weekend, photos of Davidson getting his hair dyed at Kardashian’s Skims photoshoot surfaced online, sparking speculation over whether he would be involved in the clothing brand’s next campaign.

It appears the duo are becoming more comfortable sharing their romance with the public.

In late April, they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the White House Correspondent’s dinner.

Davidson also showed his support for Kardashian earlier that month by attending the premiere of her and her family’s Hulu series, “The Kardashians.”

Kardashian told Variety at the time that she was “not opposed” to her stand-up comic beau appearing on her hit show, but noted, “It’s just not what he does.”

“But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away,” she added. “I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.”

Kardashian and Davidson were first spotted together on a date at Knott’s Scary Farm in October 2021, shortly after her debut on “SNL,” in which they shared a kiss for a skit.

The KKW Beauty founder had been separated for a few months since she filed for divorce from Kanye West in February 2021.

The exes have since been declared legally single. They share four kids: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

Meanwhile, Kardashian and Davidson have continued to grow closer and stronger.

A source told Page Six in January that the relationship is “so easy and effortless” and there’s “a lot of laughing and smiling.”

The couple then went Instagram-official in March with a series of photos from their Valentine’s Day weekend together.

Kardashian recently gushed on her Hulu show that Davidson is the “sweetest, nicest human being.”

Norm MacDonald’s Colleagues Discuss Comedian’s Death in Netflix Special: We Didn’t Get to ‘Tell Him What He Meant to Us’ - Yahoo Entertainment

David Letterman, Dave Chappelle, Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, Molly Shannon and David Spade shared memories and reflected on the death of their friend Norm MacDonald at the end of the late comedian’s new Netflix special, “Norm MacDonald: Nothing Special.”

After watching a screening of MacDonald’s performance, which was recorded in his home, friends of the late “Saturday Night Live” star, discussed his impact on the comedy world. During their conversation, several of them admitted they didn’t know the star, who died in September 2021 after a nine-year battle with cancer, was sick.

“I don’t know how everyone else felt here, but Norm was sick for quite a while, and he got sicker and I didn’t know and I talked to so many people who I was sure knew,” O’Brien said. “I thought, ‘Maybe I’m the only one that doesn’t know.’ … He didn’t want anybody to know and so, being the self-absorbed person I am, I think a lot of us, we thought, ‘Is he mad at me? Is there something I did?’ because we kept trying to get him to come back on and we couldn’t. He couldn’t do it because I don’t think he was up for it. He didn’t want to answer questions about maybe, you know, his appearance or anything, but I remembered when he went, everybody in the community was — we all thought we were the only one that didn’t know, and we were so upset that we didn’t get a chance to tell him what he meant to us.”

Chappelle also said he didn’t know that MacDonald was sick.

“The last time I saw him was at the Comedy Store, and he was uncharacteristically emotional. Like when we parted company, he was. And there’s a picture of me and him and the back of Chris Rock’s head — I put it in my special,” Chappelle said. “That picture — it’s in the end of ‘The Closer’ — was the last time that I saw him. He came up, he stood behind me, and I realized he was posing for the picture, in hindsight, like a gift. It was a very fitting goodbye.”

Shannon said MacDonald seemed to have an “urgency” to the words he shared with her when they crossed paths for the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary show.

“I saw him at the ‘SNL’ 40th, and I didn’t know he had cancer or anything, but I remember as soon as he saw me, he was like, ‘I love you, Molly.’ Just he blurted it out right away,” she said. “I just had a sense of like, I could feel that he had this kind of urgency to say exactly what was on his mind in the moment. … And I just I was like, ‘Oh, something’s different with Norm.’”

Sandler and Spade discussed a stand-up tour they did with MacDonald and Rob Schneider, with Sandler noting their friend expressed his emotions during the jaunt.

“He did get emotional a lot though,” Sandler said. “Like on the whole tour, he would just all of a sudden get really teary eyed and stuff and he would be like, ‘This is wonderful,’” Sandler recalled. “Like just the tour itself and like hanging out and we’d have dinners and breakfasts and sh– and he was more — he’d just be so much fun to see. He had so much energy to hang.”

Ronnie Hawkins, Rockabilly Road Warrior, Is Dead at 87 - The New York Times

Besides performing, he mentored stars like Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm and Rick Danko, who went on to form one of the most influential groups of the rock era, the Band.

Ronnie Hawkins, who combined the gregarious stage presence of a natural showman and a commitment to turbocharged rockabilly music in a rowdy career that spanned more than a half-century, died on Sunday. He was 87.

His daughter Leah confirmed his death. She did not say where he died or disclose the cause, though she said he had been quite ill.

Mr. Hawkins started performing in his native Arkansas in the late 1950s and became a roadhouse entertainer based in Canada in the 1960s, his music forever rooted in the primal rock ’n’ roll rhythms of Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry.

For all of his success, his biggest claim to fame was not the music he produced but the musicians he attracted and mentored. His backup musicians of the early 1960s, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Rick Danko, went on to form the Band, which backed Bob Dylan and became one of the most admired and influential bands in rock history.

But those musicians, like many of Mr. Hawkins’s fans, never lost their reverence for the man known as the Hawk.

“Ronnie’s whole style,” Mr. Robertson once said, was for him and his band to play “faster and more violent and explosive than anyone had ever heard before.”

Ronald Cornett Hawkins was born on Jan. 10, 1935, two days after Elvis Presley, in Huntsville, Ark. When he was 9, his family moved to nearby Fayetteville, where his father, Jasper, opened a barbershop and his mother, Flora, taught school. His musical education began at the barbershop where a shoeshine boy named Buddy Hayes had a blues band that rehearsed with a piano player named Little Joe.

It was there that he began to imbibe the crazy quilt music of the South, with blues and jazz filtered through snatches of country and the minstrel and medicine shows that traveled through town. Before long, something new was added: the beginnings of rock ’n’ roll, which was percolating out of Sam Phillips’s Sun Records studio in Memphis.

Mr. Hawkins brought to all that an element of danger. As a teenager, he had driven a souped-up Model A Ford running bootleg whiskey from Missouri to the dry counties of Oklahoma, making as much as $300 a day.

He put together bands, enrolled in the University of Arkansas and dropped out, joined the Army in 1957 and then quit the same year, intent on making it in the music business. While in the Army, he fronted a rock ’n’ roll band, the Black Hawks, made up of African American musicians, a daring effort in the segregated South.

Demos he recorded at Sun after he left the Army fell flat, but Mr. Hawkins and the guitarist on his Sun session, Luke Paulman, put together a band with Mr. Hawkins as the athletic frontman given to back flips and handstands. Over the years, his trademark became the camel walk, an early version of what became Michael Jackson’s moonwalk decades later.

In 1958, the country music singer Conway Twitty said American rock ’n’ roll bands could make a killing in Canada. Heeding that advice, Mr. Hawkins moved to a place he once said was “as cold as an accountant’s heart.” Toronto and other places in Ontario turned into his home base for the rest of his career.

Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images

Mr. Hawkins liked to talk, perhaps with some embellishment, about parties, brawling, sex and drinking that, as he put it, “Nero would have been ashamed of.” But there was nothing glamorous about being a rock ’n’ roll musician playing nonstop in bars and roadhouses on a circuit centered on Ontario, Quebec and U.S. cities like Buffalo, Detroit and Cleveland.

“When I started playing rock ’n’ roll,” he said, “you were two pay grades below a prisoner of war.”

He built up a following based on his magnetic stage presence, the proficiency of his bands and the raw energy of his music. He had modest hits with “Forty Days” — his revised version of Chuck Berry’s “Thirty Days” — and “Mary Lou,” a Top 30 hit on the U.S. charts.

Later successful recordings include “Who Do You Love?” and “Hey, Bo Diddley.”

Morris Levy of Mr. Hawkins’s label, Roulette Records, billed him as someone who “moved better than Elvis, he looked better than Elvis and he sang better than Elvis.” He saw a vacuum that he thought Mr. Hawkins could fill as the original rockabilly artists slowed down or flamed out. But Mr. Hawkins was not so sure, as he watched clean-cut teen idols like Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell take over from their more rough-hewed progenitors.

To Mr. Levy’s chagrin, Mr. Hawkins opted to own the road in Canada rather than to swing for the fences as a recording star in the U.S., building up a remunerative career working nonstop, even though he never built a high-profile recording career. He also became known as a one-of-a-kind character and raconteur.

“The Hawk had been to college and could quote Shakespeare when he was in the mood,” Mr. Helm wrote in his autobiography, “This Wheel’s on Fire.” “He was also the most vulgar and outrageous rockabilly character I’ve ever met in my life. He’d say and do anything to shock you.”

Mr. Hawkins was more than just the consummate rockabilly road warrior. In 1969, he hosted John Lennon and Yoko Ono at his ranch outside Toronto during their world tour to promote world peace as the Plastic Ono Band. Bob Dylan was a longtime fan who in 1975 cast Mr. Hawkins to play the role of “Bob Dylan” in his experimental and largely panned movie “Renaldo and Clara.”

Mr. Hawkins also appeared in Martin Scorsese’s 1978 concert film “The Last Waltz,” as one of the invited stars who joined the Band in the final performance of the original group at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on Thanksgiving Day, 1976. (The Band later reunited without Mr. Robertson.)

Mr. Hawkins growled and hollered his way through a memorable performance with the Band of “Who Do You Love,” good-naturedly fanning Mr. Robertson’s guitar with his cowboy hat as if cooling it off after a particularly torrid solo.

And he became a friend of his fellow Arkansan Bill Clinton when Mr. Clinton was governor, as well as a conspicuous part of the Arkansas entourage during President Clinton’s Inaugural in 1992. Mr. Clinton paid tribute to Mr. Hawkins in a 2004 documentary titled “Ronnie Hawkins Still Alive and Kickin’.’’

Ed Perlstein/Redferns/Getty Images

Mr. Hawkins also acted in a supporting role in Michael Cimino’s critically panned 1980 western “Heaven’s Gate,” and he became a respected elder statesman of Canadian music. He invested wisely, lived like a country squire in a sprawling lakefront estate and owned several businesses.

Besides his daughter Leah, survivors include his wife, Wanda, and two other children, Ronnie Jr. and Robin, and four grandchildren.

Mr. Hawkins remained a master of honing his bad-boy image and playing to type, including in his 1989 autobiography, “Last of the Good Ol’ Boys.”

“Ninety percent of what I made went to women, whiskey, drugs and cars,” he said. “I guess I just wasted the other 10 percent.”

Livia Albeck-Ripka contributed reporting.

Wynonna Judd continuing to 'do the personal healing work' after mother Naomi's tragic suicide - Daily Mail

Wynonna Judd says she is focused on 'personal healing work' after mother Naomi's tragic suicide a month ago - and vows that the heartbreaking series of events will NOT 'be how The Judds' story ends'

Wynonna Judd on Sunday took to Instagram to give fans an update on how she's coping a month after the tragic suicide death of her mother Naomi Judd at 76.

'Checking in,' the Ashland, Kentucky native, 57, said in the caption of the social media post. 'There is so much happening in the world right now. Before I sat down to write this, I thought, "No…I just don't know what to say." Then, I heard the words from my life coach asking me, "What do you know?" And I began to cry.'

The No One Else on Earth artist continued, 'WHAT DO I KNOW?? I DO know, that the pain of losing Mom on 4/30 to suicide is so great, that I often feel like I'm not ever going to be able to fully accept and surrender to the truth that she left the way she did. This cannot be how The Judds story ends.'

The latest: Wynonna Judd, 57, on Sunday took to Instagram to give fans an update on how she's coping a month after the tragic suicide death of her mother Naomi Judd at 76. She was snapped at a tribute to her late mother in Nashville May 15

Wynonna said that amid the tragic time, and with a focus on being 'a healthier grandparent' for her baby grandchild Kaliyah, she knows she 'must continue to show up for' herself 'and do the personal healing work' in an effort 'to break the cycle of addiction & family dysfunction.'

Wynonna added: 'I know that it is a simple steps program, and those steps are not easy to take at times. Therefore, I’ve made a commitment to keep doing the "next right thing," and schedule weekly appointments so that I continue with the ongoing work, even when I have good days.'

Wynonna said that she feels 'so helpless - right now especially' and cited the Judds' hit 1990 song Love Can Build A Bridge that her late mother penned.

'I DO know, that as corny as it sounds, Love Can Build A Bridge,' she said. 'I find myself humming the song that Mom wrote for the fans, to myself here on the farm at night.'

Wynonna updated fans on how she's healing in the wake of Naomi's tragic death at 76 a month ago. The two were snapped at the CMT Awards April 11
Wynonna took to the stage at the tribute to her late mother earlier this month

Wynonna said she was aware of her support system amid the trying times following the family tragedy, and dedicated to performing.

'I really DO know, that I’m not able to do this grieving thing all by myself, and that it’s okay to reach out for help,' she said. 'I will continue to fight for my faith, for my SELF, for my family, and I WILL continue to show up & sing.'

Wynonna wrapped up the emotional post in saying, 'Thank you all for your love and support. Let’s check in more often.'

The update came less than a month after Wynonna and sister Ashley Judd, 54, announced Naomi's passing in a statement on social media.

Wynonna and Ashley issued a statement April 30 announcing the family tragedy

'Today we sisters experienced a tragedy,' the sisters said. 'We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.'

The day after Naomi's death, The Judds were indicted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the CMA Theater in Nashville, where Wynonna pledged to continue performing, telling the audience, 'Though my heart's broken, I will continue to sing, because that's what we do.'

Ashley told the crowd through tears, 'I’m sorry that she couldn’t hang on until today.'

Wynonna will be touring this fall on The Judds: The Final Tour, which she was initially slated to be on with her mother. A number of country music artists, such as Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Brandi Carlile, Little Big Town, Martina McBride and Ashley McBryde, will accompany Wynonna on selected nights on the tour.

'I am humbled, once again, by the loyalty of the fans who have been with us for 38+ years, who continue to show up for me when I need them the most,' Wynonna said in a May 19 statement.

Offset and Cardi B Watch A Yacht Sink: "Can't Nobody Save That" - HotNewHipHop

Things have been going swimmingly for Offset and Cardi B recently. Last month, the couple showed off their family and revealed pictures of their new baby boy. They did date night in style. Just a few days ago, Offset said Cardi was his favorite meal.

Now, on what looks like a beachy getaway, the couple has borne witness to a naval mishap. Both rappers took to their socials to document a yacht's final moments as it sank into a watery grave.

In Offset's Instagram story, he and Cardi watch on in disbelief as a yacht slowly sinks after having seemingly struck a rocky outcrop. "It's going to sink, boy," Offset narrates in the video. Cardi can barely contain herself, saying, "Oh my God, nobody's going to save it?" Offset replies, "Can't nobody save that." As the video progresses, it seems like his assessment is right. The boat becomes almost totally submerged, and it doesn't look like help is on the way. "Do you know how much money that is?" Offset says, stunned.

Cardi posted a video of the sinking to her Twitter, seemingly capturing the event a little bit after Offset. "I can't believe I'm actually watching a yacht sink," she wrote. She's just as animated in her video, exclaiming, "It's sinking! Y'all see that?" A Twitter user quickly cut together footage from James Cameron's Titanic set to Cardi B's yacht commentary. Cardi was hardly amused. "You know what," she replied.

Check out Cardi B's video below, along with her response to the Titanic joke. Is the boat gone for good or could it still be saved?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is coming to Switch - The Verge

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) II: The Sith Lords is heading to the Nintendo Switch on June 8th, as announced at this year's Star Wars Celebration event. The sequel to the classic KOTOR RPG is supposed to feature some performance enhancements and resolution upgrades, as well as a Restored Content DLC set to arrive post-launch.

As you might’ve guessed, the Restored Content DLC comes with the content that Obsidian Entertainment and Aspyr Media, the game’s developers, left out during their rush to launch the game in 2004. There’s already a fanmade mod for KOTOR II on Steam that restores some of this lost content, but it’s unclear how similar the official DLC will be when it comes out.

You can preorder KOTOR II on the Nintendo Store for $15.00 right now, or you can buy it as part of a $29.99 bundle that also includes the original KOTOR that arrived on the Switch last year. And while Aspyr is currently working on a KOTOR remake that’s exclusive to the PlayStation 5, there’s still no word on a release date.

Depeche Mode's Andy Fletcher dies at 60 - CNN

(CNN)Andy Fletcher, a keyboardist and founding member of Depeche Mode, has died, the band announced on their official social media channels. He was 60 years old.

"We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher," the band said in a statement posted to Instagram and Twitter Thursday. "Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh, or a cold pint."
The band went on to note: "Our hearts are with his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy in this difficult time."
The announcement did not specify a cause of death.
The British electronic band was officially founded in 1980 by Fletcher, Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Vince Clarke. Fletcher remained a member of the band for more than 40 years and appeared on all 14 studio albums, from their 1981 debut "Speak & Spell" to 2017's "Spirit."
Considered synth-pop, electronic and new wave pioneers, the band -- including former members Clarke and Alan Wilder -- was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. Their hits included "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence" from the band's 1990 album, "Violator."
Tributes to Fletcher began to pour in shortly after the band's announcement of his death.
The band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark tweeted that their concert Thursday night "will be touched by a great sadness as all of us say farewell to Andy Fletcher from Depeche Mode. A beautiful person in an amazing band."
"I knew Andy and considered him a friend. We crossed many of the same pathways as younger men," tweeted Lol Tolhurst, a founding member of The Cure. "My heart goes out to his family, bandmates, and DM fans. RIP Fletch."

Ellen DeGeneres ends daytime show with plea for compassion - The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ellen DeGeneres brought her nearly two-decade daytime talk show to an end Thursday with a celebrity lovefest and a forceful assertion of her achievement as a gay woman daring to be herself.

DeGeneres and guests Jennifer Aniston, Billie Eilish and Pink shared memories and affection as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” concluded its Emmy-winning, 3,200-plus episode run that began in September 2003.

“Twenty years ago, when we were trying to sell the show, no one thought that this would work. Not because it was a different kind of show, but because I was different,” DeGeneres said of the pushback from TV stations.

When the syndicated show went on the air, she was prevented from saying the word “gay” or even the pronoun “we,” DeGeneres said, since the latter would imply she had a partner. She didn’t specify who imposed the ban.

“Sure couldn’t say wife, and that’s because it wasn’t legal for gay people to get married — and now I say ‘wife’ all the time,” DeGeneres added, with a touch of defiance, as actor Portia de Rossi watched from the studio audience. They wed in 2008.

The host, who became known for encouraging her audience to join her in impromptu dances, shared some last moves with her sidekick and DJ, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, to the tune “Best of My Love.”

The dancer-choreographer saluted DeGeneres as someone who inspires others because she has “the courage to step out and be your authentic self.”

Aniston, who as the first guest on the show’s first episode gave DeGeneres a “Welcome” doormat, arrived with another that read, “Thanks for the memories.” DeGeneres noted the “Friends” star has been on the show a total of 20 times.

“You’re welcome,” Aniston said, teasingly, then turned serious.

“I love you, and I so appreciate you and what you have given to the world over the last 19 years. The contribution is endless,” she said. She introduced a career retrospective video that also touted DeGeneres’ philanthropic efforts, said to include more than $400 million in donations to charities and “deserving viewers.”

“I love you,” a beaming Eilish told DeGeneres during their chat. “I love you so much, it’s dumb,” said Pink, who performed “What About Us.”

DeGeneres’ daytime reign hit a serious bump in 2020, when the show was alleged to be a toxic workplace and three producers exited amid the claims. On the air that fall, DeGeneres apologized for “things that shouldn’t have happened,” but defended herself as being the same genuine person — if an imperfect one — on- and off-camera.

The talk show represented a second major TV act for DeGeneres. In 1997, she made an indelible mark when she came out as lesbian and brought her character on the ABC sitcom “Ellen” with her. The series was axed the next year.

“Twenty-five years ago, they canceled my sitcom because they didn’t want a lesbian to be in prime-time once a week. And I said, ‘OK, then I’ll be on daytime every day,’” DeGeneres said Thursday.

The comedian, actor and producer has said she’ll take time to consider her next career move, but first she and de Rossi are making a trip to Rwanda. DeGeneres wrapped her daytime show with a plea to her audience, one she said was worth repeating.

“If I’ve done anything in the past 19 years, I hope I’ve inspired you to be yourself, your true authentic self. And if someone is brave enough to tell you who they are, be brave enough to support them, even if you don’t understand,” DeGeneres said. “By opening your heart and your mind you’re going to be that much more compassionate, and compassion is what makes the world a better place.”

Hot mom alert! Jessica Simpson shared a gorgeous new photo to her Instagram on May 25 showing off a new black-and-white-printed one piece from the summer collection from her line. She also showed off her amazing physique in the process, rocking a jean jacket over the suit and pairing the look with blue snakeskin “Janya” strappy heels, also from her line.

“All I need is a jet ski,” the fashion entrepreneur captioned the post, hinting at the summertime vibes of the look. Ever since she dropped an impressive 100lbs, Jessica has never looked better!

The shoe designer and style maven is rocking some seriously sexy swimwear these days, as well as lingerie! In a post shared to Twitter on May 22, the singer flaunted a sexy black bra under a white flowing overshirt as she stood in a mirror and snapped a selfie. Her long blonde hair was wavy and down and parted in the middle and she gave the camera a slight smile. The mom-of-three captioned the pic with the red lips emoji, signifying a kiss for her fans, who didn’t take long to compliment her in the comments.

Jessica’s fashionable pics have gotten a lot of attention after she was open about losing weight after her third pregnancy. The Texas native, who shares children, Maxwell, 10, Ace, 8, and Birdie, 3, with husband Eric Johnson, has previously talked about the fitness regimen she’s used since giving birth to her youngest child — including taking 12,000 steps a day. Her personal trainer Harley Pasternak also went into details about the workout, in a 2019 interview with Good Morning America.

“This was a big part of losing the 100 pounds. She could do it by going for walks with her family, walking on the treadmill watching TV, just moving her body in a non-intense way,” he said.

Jessica also shared the details of the emotional aspects of her weight loss journey. “I think it’s about setting small goals for yourself, and then eventually, the impossible is possible,” Jessica told Us Weekly in a new interview published on April 15.

“I was so proud of myself and I was proud of the resilience no matter what people say. … I think that the positive comments about [my weight loss journey] are what I hold onto and it’s the reason why I posted [the Instagram photo] — for that one person to go in and feel better about themselves and to work really hard,” she said. “‘Cause when you work really hard to look and feel the way that you do in a very happy moment, especially with your children, it is very empowering and it made me so emotional.”

'Who are we as a society?' Kelly Ripa, Ryan Seacrest react to Texas school shooting - WPVI-TV

NEW YORK -- Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest said it's not their job to deliver the news. But the "Live! With Kelly & Ryan" hosts needed to speak out the morning after the mass shooting at a Texas elementary school that left 19 children and two adults dead.

"Another hard morning for us here...so many parents in this room, myself included, another mass shooting at a school," Ripa said to open the show on Wednesday.

Though Ripa and Seacrest agreed that they were not going to say anything that had not already been said, they wanted to express what was on their minds.

Ripa said the mark has been left on the community in Uvalde, Texas.

"This is unrecoverable," Ripa said.

A day before the shooting, the FBI released its Active Shooter Incidents in the United States in 2021 report.

According to the FBI, the number of active shooter incidents identified in 2021 represents a 52.5% increase from 2020 and a 96.8% increase from 2017.

The FBI defines an active shooter as one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area.

According to Education Week, there have been 27 school shootings with injuries or deaths this year.

Ripa remarked that students across the country have active shooter drills every day.

"I am a parent of children that have these active shooter drills. I can tell you that it changes who your children are fundamentality and it makes them afraid of everything and every place because every place is potentially dangerous," Ripa said.

Ripa said she has not slept because she is enraged over yet another school shooting.

Lt. Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN that all the victims were in the same fourth-grade class at Robb Elementary.

It was the deadliest shooting at a U.S. school since 20 children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012.

"What are we doing? And who are we as a society?" Ripa asked.

"Before you tell me to stay in my lane - this is my lane. This is my lane."

Seacrest said he spoke to his sister who has a 3-year-old child after hearing the news. The "American Idol" host said his sister and his mother both feel the same as Ripa does.

Seacrest referenced Golden State Warrior head coach Steve Kerr's impassioned speech Tuesday night calling on senators to take action.

Kerr spoke in Dallas, approximately 400 miles from Uvalde, before the Warriors played the Mavericks.

"When are we going to do something?" Kerr asked. "I'm tired. I'm so tired of getting up here and offering condolences, to the devastated families that are out there. I'm so tired of the excuse, but I'm sorry, I'm tired of the moments of silence. Enough."

Echoing Kerr's plea, Seacrest said there has to be common ground found to make real change.

"Of course thoughts, of course prayers, of course moments of silence, but that's not getting anything done," Seacrest said. "And something needs to get done."

Ripa said it's up to the citizens to call lawmakers to see that change happen.

Johnny Depp calls ex-wife Amber Heard's allegations "unbelievably brutal, cruel, and all false" in return to stand in libel trial - CBS News

Editor's note: Some testimony contains graphic language and descriptions of sexual and physical assault.

Johnny Depp called his ex-wife's accusations of sexual and physical abuse "insane" Wednesday as he returned to the witness stand in his libel suit against Amber Heard.

"Ridiculous, humiliating, ludicrous, painful, savage, unbelievably brutal, cruel, and all false," Depp said when asked about his reaction to hearing Heard's allegations when she testified earlier in the trial.

Depp was testifying Wednesday as a rebuttal witness - both he and Heard each testified extensively earlier in the trial.

He gave some specific responses to some of the particular allegations levied by Heard and also her sister, Whitney Henriquez, who provided some of Heard's strongest corroborating testimony.

He concluded the questioning by his attorneys with a final denial of the allegations.

"I have never in my life committed sexual battery, physical abuse, all these outlandish, outrageous stories of me committing these things," he said. "And living with it for six years, and waiting to be able to bring the truth out."

He said that "no matter what happens I did get here and I did tell the truth and I have spoken up for what I've been carrying on my back, reluctantly, for six years."

In cross-examining Depp, Heard's lawyers took aim at that claim, quizzing the actor about his earlier lawsuit against the U.K.'s Sun newspaper, which referred to him as a "wifebeater." Depp lost that defamation case.

Heard's attorney, J. Benjamin Rottenborn, also read text messages between Depp and his assistant in which he used vulgar terms to refer to a woman's sexual organs and said "I NEED. I WANT. I TAKE." Depp called the idea that he had written if he wanted to be with a woman sexually, she was rightfully his, "ludicrous."

"You can pull up what you like, I've never said those words. There's not enough hubris in me," he told Heard's attorney, suggesting the text was doctored or someone might have commandeered his phone. "That's quite grotesque."

Depp is suing Heard in Fairfax County Circuit Court over a December 2018 op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post describing herself as "a public figure representing domestic abuse." His lawyers say he was defamed by the article even though it never mentioned his name.

Depp has denied he ever struck Heard, and says she was the abuser in the relationship. Heard has testified about more than a dozen separate instances of physical abuse she says she suffered at Depp's hands.

Depp also disputed a claim made by Heard that Depp had nothing to do with getting her a role in the superhero blockbuster "Aquaman." When Heard testified, she was clearly offended by a question from Depp's lawyers insinuating Depp got her the role.

Depp, though, said that after Heard auditioned for the role, he talked to the studio on her behalf. He was barred from discussing the details of his conversations when Heard's lawyers objected, but said that "ultimately she did get the job, so hopefully, I suppose, I had curbed their worries to some degree."

On cross-examination, though, jurors saw a text message sent after Heard filed for divorce in which Depp told his sister, "I want her replaced in that WB (Warner Bros.) film."

Still, when Heard's lawyer asked Depp whether he tried to get Heard fired from "Aquaman," he denied it. He said instead that he just felt duty-bound to let the studio know "that it was going to end up ugly" if they kept Heard in the film.

Also Wednesday, supermodel Kate Moss, a former girlfriend of Depp, denied that she had ever been pushed or assaulted by Depp during the course of their relationship.

Moss also testified as a rebuttal witness. Heard, in her testimony, made a reference to Moss and a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down a set of stairs when they dated.

Moss, in testimony provided by video link, said Depp never assaulted her. She said she did once slip down a flight of stairs after a rainstorm at a Jamaican resort, and that Depp came to her aid.

She testified for less than 5 minutes and was not cross-examined.

Depp also addressed the accusation in his testimony, saying it happened just as Moss said. He said he'd told the story about Moss to Heard years ago and "Ms. Heard took the story and turned it into a very ugly incident, all in her mind."

Ricky Gervais Netflix Special Draws Fire for Graphic Trans Women Jokes - Hollywood Reporter

Ricky Gervais’ new Netflix special has stirred up a swift backlash over his use of shock humor at the expense of trans women.

Only minutes into his latest special for the streaming giant, Gervais jokes: “I love the new women. The new ones we’ve been seeing lately. The ones with beards and cocks. They’re as good as gold, I love ’em. No, it’s the old-fashioned ones, they go, ‘Oh, they want to use our toilets.’ ‘Why shouldn’t they use your toilets?’ ‘For ladies!’ ‘They are ladies — look at their pronouns! What about this person isn’t a lady?’ ‘Well, his penis.’ ‘Her penis, you fucking bigot!’ ‘What if he rapes me?’ ‘What if she rapes you, you fucking TERF whore!’”

Related Stories

TERF is an acronym for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist,” an ideology that excludes trans women as women.

In his stand-up special Ricky Gervais: SuperNature, which debuted on Tuesday, Gervais cited today’s “woke, progressive times” as he discussed fellow comics and what is considered funny. He argued people should not declare a joke offensive, but that “you gotta say you found it offensive,” because he contended feelings are personal.

Gervais also referred to the new phenomenon of “woke comedy,” where comics do not seek to offend anyone as they create instead a “safe space” for the audience. “I tried to watch a bit of it, and I decided I’d rather watch Louis C.K. masturbate,” he said with a gesture toward his groin. Adding, “Can’t mention him anymore. He’s canceled.”

He also cited Kevin Hart losing his 2018 Oscars hosting gig after past homophobic tweets surfaced. The British funnyman argued comedy was threatened if comics couldn’t predict what might be considered offensive in the future. “You don’t know who the dominant mob will be. You know, like, the worst thing you can say today — that get you canceled on Twitter, death threats — the worst thing you can say today is, ‘Women don’t have penises,’ right? Now, no one saw that coming. There are no 10-year-old tweets saying ‘Women don’t have penises.’ You know why? We didn’t think we fucking had to!”

Gervais’ riff on woke culture and being canceled then cited Liam Neeson facing fallout from the Irish actor’s confession that he once considered a racist “revenge” attack. “When that broke, I was like, ‘Oh, will I ever be able to find Schindler’s List funny again?’ … I do still find it funny, obviously,” he said.

Shedding his shock humor for a moment, he admitted, “In real life, of course, I support trans rights. I support all human rights, and trans rights are human rights. You know, live your best life. Use your preferred pronouns. Be the gender that you feel you are. But meet me halfway, ladies. Lose the cock. That’s all I’m saying.”

Gervais’ fans and detractors were quick to react on social media after the special dropped on Netflix.

“Ricky Gervais is like a dick, he shows up on your phone unwanted, acts big and hard talking about trans people but is way smaller in real life and can’t handle getting bent by people calling him out on social media,” Alejandra Caraballo, an instructor at Harvard Law School’s Cyberlaw Clinic, said on Twitter.

“Ricky Gervais and his promotional team get what they wanted – to trend on Twitter. Meanwhile in real life trans people are on the least funded end of the healthcare spectrum and facing a barrage of negativity from an increasingly trans hostile media. This isn’t a joke,” British artist Miss Freda Wallace added.

Theater composer, lyricist and LGBTQ+ activist Charlie Caine also took aim at the SuperNature special on Twitter: “Ricky Gervais is just an incredibly lazy comedian who hasn’t worked out that just because you’re offensive it doesn’t mean you’re funny. His fans now seem to consist of right wing twats who think cruelty is funny simply by virtue of it being cruel and ‘triggering the libs’.”

The response to SuperNature follows ongoing backlash against Netflix comic Dave Chappelle over transphobic material in his most recent comedy special, The Closer, which sparked a walkout at the streamer from its trans staffers and allies. Chappelle has since gone on to headline the recent Netflix Is a Joke comedy special, where he was attacked onstage by a fan while working out new material.

Last week Ricky Gervais was a guest on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, where he telegraphed possible negative reactions to SuperNature for being transphobic. He was responding to a question from co-host Sam Roberts on Netflix employees becoming upset by his performance.

“Well, I don’t know what to say really. To me, there’s nothing controversial in that because it’s just jokes. I even explain what ‘irony’ is at the beginning of the show, and everyone there, I don’t know how many people I played to – half a million people – no complaints. They laughed at all the things, right? But everyone’s gonna complain about everything in it. Every single line, someone is going to complain, either because they hate it, they don’t get it, it’s coming after… Here’s the thing about comedy. I can list 20 taboo subjects. Everyone in the world laughs at 19 of them, and hates the one that affects them.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Netflix for comment. Earlier this month, the streaming giant revised its Netflix culture policy to include support for artistic expression.

“Entertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view. So we offer a wide variety of TV shows and movies, some of which can be provocative. To help members make informed choices about what to watch, we offer ratings, content warnings and easy to use parental controls.”

Netflix added it chooses not to censor artists but instead offers a variety of voices. “Not everyone will like — or agree with — everything on our service. While every title is different, we approach them based on the same set of principles: we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with; we program for a diversity of audiences and tastes; and we let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”
